MATTHEW DAVENPORT: I handle exclusively a criminal defense from speeding tickets on up to DWI, also alcohol charges like underage possession and fake IDs and also offenses involving controlled substances like marijuana paraphernalia and white collar crimes from larceny shoplifting up to minor felonies.
I was initially a defense attorney in Raleigh in a year. I was a prosecutor here in Greenville for four years, and since then I've been a defense attorney here in Greenville.
Greenville is a college town. We have ECU right here and also have Pitt Community College, so most of my clients are students. Charges that don't seem that major right now to a freshman in college end up affecting them years down the road when they try to get into grad school and they get rejected.
My goal in every case is to get my client back in the position they were in prior to getting the charge. If that's not possible, my goal is to get them through the process with the least amount of damage.
